Voting in Reception Class

The day after the general election, we thought it would be a good idea for our class to have a vote. We voted on the book we should read after lunchtime. The choices were 'Little Rabbit Foo Foo' or 'The Dinosaur that Pooped the Past'. Each child received a ballot paper, and the process of voting was explained to them.

 Each child cast their vote at the polling station.

The results were very close, with the dinosaur book getting 14 votes, but Little Rabbit Foo Foo getting 15 votes.

Harewood House Trip

We had a great time at Harewood House, and were very pleased that the weather wasn't as bad as was forecast. Here's a few photos from the trip:

Reading Week

Reception class really enjoyed reading week. Thank you to those that sent in an extreme reading photo, here they are:

During this reading week, we looked at the book 'Supertato'.

The children really enjoyed this story and it inspired them to make their own supertato.

The evil pea had frozen the poor carrots in ice, they needed rescuing. The children had to think of ways to set free the carrots.

The children really enjoyed the visit from the Rainbow Factory. The children needed to help Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk. They even did a bit of acting themselves.

Halving

In maths we have been learning about halving. Myla drew this lovely picture of two people sharing six hearts.

A spot of gardening

Mrs Bennett has been busy working with the children to plant their own sunflower seeds. They have already started to sprout.

PE

After doing yoga for a few weeks, we are now enjoying dance in our PE sessions. This week we were doing a rainstorm dance. The children are learning to listen to the beat and move in time to it.

 We have also been very impressed at how quickly the children are able to get ready for PE independently. They like to see if they can beat the timer each week. All 31 children are able to get ready for PE in eight minutes!

Faries part two.

The children were very excited to discover that Elvina the woodland fairy had been back. She was even caught on video!

This led to a flurry of letter writing, asking lots of questions and lots of invitations for Elvina to come round to play. A few children even waited very patiently to see if they would get a glimpse of her.

 Elvina replied, asking the children to make a fairy garden for her to enjoy. The children worked together to make this garden.
