Iggy and the Vet

This week Becky the vet and her pet dog Iggy came to visit us. Becky talked about the animals that she treats and showed us some x-rays of animals. These included a dog that ate some cake and a fork! She also showed us  models of a dog's heart, eyeball and teeth. The children got a chance to dress up as a vet and use the stethoscope to listen to Iggy's heartbeat.

'It sounds like ants walking out of their home.'

Police Van

As part of Year One and Two's topic of heroes, a policeman paid them a visit. They invited us to see him too. He brought his van, we watched the lights and listened to the sirens. Most of the children also went in the back of the police van and Noah was handcuffed!

Nests

The children have have been very interested in nests. We learnt about what a nest is and the animals that make nests. The children enjoyed making their own nests.

We looked at a real nest.

A Surprise Visitor

Year one and two are currently doing a topic about heroes. As part of this they were visited by the fire brigade. One of the firefighters came to reception class to tell us about what he did. Miss Coulter also dressed up in their uniform. We were very impressed by the questions that the children asked.
Such as: Do you use dogs to help you?
Do you use sand to put out a fire?

Pets

The children have been enjoying the new topic of pets. The new role play area has been used as a vets and a pet shop.
Looking after a poorly kitten

Buying a very cheap pet seal

We found out about our class pet fish.
Taking a closer look.

We have been writing about pets we have or ones we would like to have.
We learnt about which animals hatch from eggs. The children had to sort the eggs according to this. Olive wasn't sure, so she looked in a book.
